Changes to the Common Agricultural Policy

An important change in the Common Agricultural Policy will be the new financing modality for direct payments, which will apply from 2021 to 2027.

In the area of direct payments and RDP payments, it will be necessary to regulate, among other things: basic income support, redistributive payment, requirements related to the conditionality system, payments related to production in sectors experiencing difficulties, payments for young farmers, climate and environmental support schemes, including organic farming and animal welfare, and LFA payments.

The future agricultural policy places great emphasis on a new “green architecture” to contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal. These measures aim at improving the efficiency and increasing the commodity value of organic production. Within the framework of animal welfare payments, in addition to the continuation of support for pigs, cows and sheep, an extension to new species such as poultry, beef cattle and horses is planned.
